How To Choose Between Single-Mast And Dual-Mast Aluminum Alloy Lifts? A Selection Guide

Mar 15, 2026

When purchasing a mast-type aerial work platform, the primary consideration is determining the appropriate number of masts. Single-mast and dual-mast models are the two most common types available on the market; however, many buyers are unsure how to distinguish between them. A single-mast lift supports the work platform using a single mast assembly; the unit is lightweight and features extremely compact dimensions when retracted (for instance, the GTWY6-100 model measures only 1.20 × 0.88 × 1.70 meters in its retracted state). This allows it to easily pass through standard doorways and fit into ordinary elevators, making it ideal for single-operator tasks and operations within confined spaces. In contrast, a dual-mast lift utilizes two high-strength aluminum alloy mast assemblies, offering a higher load capacity (typically ranging from 200 to 250 kg) and a more spacious platform area (e.g., 1.36 × 0.60 meters). With its exceptional stability, this configuration is well-suited for two-person teams working collaboratively while carrying tools.

Selection Advice: If your primary work environment involves narrow corridors or elevator shafts, and the task can be performed by a single operator, a single-mast lift offers the best value for money. However, if your work scope is broader, requires two-person collaboration, or involves lifting heavier tools, a dual-mast lift is the more appropriate choice. Under no circumstances should you attempt to save money by using a smaller machine for heavy-duty tasks, as this significantly increases the risk of overloading and potentially triggering safety accidents.
